Band of the Week: Cerebral Ballzy

23 Aug

These guys have apparently been around since 2008. Wuuuuuut?  With three London gigs under their belt this week and sets at the upcoming Leeds/Reading Festival, Cerebral Ballzy deliver powerful, thrashcore punk that fuels the moshers like kids on Coca-Cola.

Wolf Alice Release New Track ‘She’ – Listen Now

15 Aug

An update from the rising Wolf Alice. Fresh off a UK-wide tour and playing at several festivals (including Longitude and Great Escape), the quartet are due to release an EP ‘Blush’  on 14th October 2013 through Chess Club Records . Co-produced by the band themselves along with Austen Jux-Chandler, the first single ‘She’ (first streamed on the 14th August) retains all the loud, building choruses that have characterized their songs to date. Only, this time, everything – from singer Ellie Rowsell’s voice to the song composition – is more mature.

Band of the Week: Bass Drum of Death

12 Aug

It’s okay. Throw your arms up in frustration. Kick your coffee off the table Jackie-Chan style. If you have been feeling this slow-burning, torrid sensation about the state of modern music, your pain is shared. Everything is so repetitive. It’s so hard to find a new, enticing sound. We need some hope.  Enter: Bass Drum of Death. Do you like grunge-type, garage rock, filled with heavy riffs? You, my friend, are in for a treat. Listen and weep, sisters.
